Having played and talked about the different concepts and formats during the initial ideas stage, I decided that there were key features of a couple of designs which needed to be merged in order to make a completely rounded solution. As discussed in the video above, I decided to try merging the intuitive feel of using setting rings on a cylindrical body with a more rectangular body more suited to screen-less composition:
After some exploration sketching a design emerged which featured a rectangular body with rounded corners, featuring a lens on one side and a hole with setting wheels either side on the other.As explained in the video, the design allows for easy setting control, a cocking mechanism with delay timer around the lens, and a hole which acts as a sort of view port for accurate composition if needed.
