Who am I?
Hello! My name is Alex Stewart and I'm a 21 year old product design undergrad at De Montfort University in the UK. I have a lot of passions in life and love new things; if there is an opportunity to do something involving creativity or problem solving, I'm always first in the queue to give it a shot. Over the years design has become my truest passion, combining everything I love from multiple disciplines I've been involved with in the past like business strategy, computer programming, photography, graphic, product, furniture, interior, spacial, architecture and system design.

Where am I going?
Having followed product design through school and into university I've had many great opportunities to try my hand at new things. I studied for a year abroad in Orléans, France at a design school called ÉSAD, where I learnt from working professionals from vastly different fields who were from all over the world and now live and work in Paris. I now think internationally, and understand from the French university system that it doesn't matter what your strict discipline is: if you have passion and are creative, you can solve any problem regardless of the discipline it falls under. It is my ambition to work in design consultancies around the world, taking on the challenge of designing for problems that are outside of my comfort zone; in different settings, languages, cultures and countries (I'm very interested in studying/working in the far east eg. Japan or Korea).

What is this website about?
For years I have enjoyed photography as a hobby, in fact the type of hobby which takes over your life. Since getting my first DSLR at 17 I have taught myself about photography and found myself drawn into becoming an amateur fashion photographer. I started doing photoshoots, and making enough money to upgrade my equipment. After a couple of years doing photoshoots around the country in Manchester and London, and even abroad in Kyoto and Tokyo, I found myself sitting in my apparent in France planning my final year degree project. I realised it was time to bring my hobby and my study together, and I began to learn everything I could about how cameras really work, not just how you operate them. I started this website to record everything I did, and began teaching myself optical engineering. Since then, I have designed lenses, built prototypes, cut my own optics, and am now designing cameras as part of my final year at university! Keep an eye out and watch my progression, and if you ever want to contact me about my work or anything else design related, feel free to email me. Thanks for reading!
